The Tabriz Noir Garden Rug - 6x9

Some rugs have a centre. This one has everywhere.

The Tabriz Noir Garden belongs to the rarest category of Persian design — the allover garden pattern. Where medallion rugs draw the eye to a single focal point, the allover pattern distributes attention equally across the entire surface. Every inch rewards examination. No hierarchy. No centre of gravity. Simply a continuous garden of extraordinary density that covers the jet black field from edge to edge without pause or repetition.

That field is the deepest black in the Mizan collection. Not navy. Not charcoal. Black — pure, absolute and extraordinarily rare as a ground colour in silk weaving at this knot count. Against it, ivory roses, blush peonies, sage green leaves and dusty rose florals cascade in every direction simultaneously — thousands of individual blooms woven into a single continuous composition that moves across the surface like a garden seen from above at the height of summer.

The border is ivory — wide, generous and carrying its own botanical procession in blush, sage and antique gold that frames the garden within with the considered elegance of a ha-ha wall around a great English estate. Between field and border, a fine band of terracotta acts as a horizon line — warm, grounding and just present enough to hold the composition together at its edges.

This is a rug without a wrong angle. View it from any position in the room and a different arrangement of flowers presents itself. Spend a year with it and you will still find blooms you had not noticed before.

367 knots per square inch. Hand-knotted in pure silk. Woven in Henan Province by craftspeople working a tradition centuries in the making.

The allover garden pattern at this knot density is among the most technically demanding achievements in Persian weaving. There is no repeating medallion to guide the weaver's hand across the surface. Every bloom must be individually resolved, its position within the overall composition held in mind across millions of individual hand-tied knots over months of continuous work. The consistency of pattern density and colour saturation across the entire 6x9 surface — not a single area thinner or darker than another — is the evidence of that extraordinary discipline.

In silk, on a black ground, at 367 knots per square inch, the garden does something in natural light that is impossible to describe adequately in words. The ivory florals appear to glow. The blush tones warm and cool with the changing light of the day. The black field deepens at dusk until the flowers seem to float in darkness entirely. Morning brings it all back — lighter, fresher, as if the garden has been rained on overnight.

This is a piece that lives with you differently every day. That is not a promise. That is what happens when a garden is woven in silk.

One piece. One home. Exclusively yours.
